Burglar Assaults Mount Vernon Residents In Bedroom: Police

A man faces charges after residents awoke to a burglar breaking in, according to Fairfax County Police.

MOUNT VERNON, VA — Fairfax County Police made an arrest after a burglar allegedly assaulted residents Friday night in Mount Vernon.

The incident happened around 11:03 p.m. in the 3900 block of El Soneta Place. The victims awoke to the sound of glass breaking. The suspect allegedly came into the bedroom and assaulted the victims.

Police arrested Giovanni Toloza, 42, of Alexandria. He was charged with burglary, felony and misdemeanor destruction of property, and two counts of simple assault and was held without bond. The victims had minor injuries.
