Charity Groups to Raise Money in 24-Hour Event

Choose from over 150 charitable causes during Alexandria's 24-hour online fundraising event Wednesday.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- On April 5, Alexandria is holding a 24-hour Giving Day to raise money for local charitable organizations.

Hosted by ACT for Alexandria, Spring2ACTion is an online event that connects donors to the charitable causes. Over 150 charitable organizations are participating. The organizations represent a wide variety of causes such as education, the environment, animal rescue and humanitarian aid. Organizations allowed to participate must have a cause that benefits Alexandria.

Donors can filter through different types of nonprofit organizations and donate directly online.

In addition, sponsoring organizations will reward money and other prizes to causes that reach milestones, such as the most donors, most dollars raised and most social media engagement.

Last year, Patch reported that Spring2ACTion raised over $1.3 million for over 150 charitable causes, and organizers hope to surpass that number this year.
