Eat Local: Euro Bistro & Grille

A contemporary Richmond Highway restaurant featuring European specialties

Euro Bistro & Grille, located at 6027 Richmond Highway, is a family owned, local restaurant that opened its doors earlier this year. Fully renovated, the restaurant now showcases a sleek and modern look, complete with a spacious bar, lounge area, and dining room. Manager Tony Sadikaj, claims that the menu was carefully crafted to include the best of German, Albanian and Italian cuisines. Taking note of the lack of European focused restaurants in the Huntington area, Sadikaj and his family are determined the fill the void.

The full, eclectic menu is available all day and includes a daily special, usually a traditional Albanian recipe. Appetizer options range from burek, an Albanian specialty and popular menu item made with spinach, eggs, and feta cheese, to a traditional goulash stew, to even non-European standards like quesadillas. The diverse sandwich list includes a Philly cheesesteak, Italian and vegan subs, and the Chofta–kebab topped with lettuce, tomatoes and tartar sauce, just to name a few. Appetizer prices run from $4.99 and $11.99; sandwiches range from $4.99 and $7.99.

As represented, the entrees include an interesting mix of European specialties. According to Sadikaj, the Bistro's signature dish is any one of the three schnitzels offered. The Wiener Schnitzel is breaded, fried veal; the Jager Schnitzel is a grilled veal dish, and the Pikata Schnitzel is a breaded and fried chicken breast. All three dishes are served with a mushroom sauce. There is also a selection of risotto and pasta dishes to choose from, such as the Pasta Primavera, Alfredo pasta, and Sadikaj's favorite, the Risotto Frutti de Mare–rice mixed with a variety of seafood. Entree prices are very reasonable, with the most expensive entree, grilled filet mignon, costing $22.99.

The restaurant also boasts an espresso machine, and offers an array of American or Italian coffee. The dessert menu is inviting, with treats such as homemade baklava, tiramisu and bistro cake which alternates flavors of lemon, carrot, pineapple or chocolate cake, all topped with a sweet apple plum sauce.

A liquor license is currently in the works and Sadikaj says you can soon expect a large array of European wines and tapas. Restaurant hours are Monday 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.; Tuesday - Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 2:00p.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.; Sunday 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Phone: 571-222-4271.
