Fairfax County Public Schools Closed March 21 Due To Snow

The school district announced the weather decision in light of the snow storm.

Fairfax County Public Schools will be closed Wednesday, March 21 due to the winter storm warning for snow.

All schools, offices and School Age Child Care Centers will be closed. Cancelled activities include extracurricular activities, interscholastic contests, team practices, field trips, middle school after-school programs, professional learning and training courses, adult and community education classes, recreation programs and outside use by community groups.

Fairfax County is under a winter storm warning from 2 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang forecast calls for 2 to 5 inches of snow in much of Fairfax County, while the northern part of the county could see 6 to 12 inches. Forecasters said heavy, wet snow is possible.

On Tuesday, March 20, FCPS did not dismiss students early but cancelled afternoon and evening activities on school campuses.
