Hyland, Storck Endorse Garvey For State Senate

Current Chair of the Arlington County School Board, Libby Garvey received two official endorsements today to replace Sen. Patsy Ticer in the Virginia Senate’s 30th District from Mt. Vernon District Supervisor Gerry Hyland and Fairfax County School Board member Dan Storck, according to a press release.  

“Libby Garvey offers a unique combination of vision and a proven track record of getting things done,” Hyland said.  “Libby is exactly the style of leader we need working for us in Richmond."

After Ticer announced her retirement, Garvey announced her intention to run for the Virginia Senate in the 30th District in February. In addition to the endorsements from Hyland and Storck, Garvey has been endorsed by Ticer and former Virginia Attorney General Mary Sue Terry.  

“Libby Garvey has worked statewide to improve public education in Virginia and she has done just that for tens of thousands of students, including thousands in the Mount Vernon District," Storck said in the release. "Her tenacity and effectiveness will serve us well as a state senator.”

would include Fort Hunt regions that are south of Carl Sandburg Middle School along Fort Hunt road would become part of the 30^th senate district. The governor has vetoed this plan.

“I’m grateful for Gerry Hyland’s and Dan Storck’s support,” Garvey said.  “I look forward to working with them on behalf of the residents of the 30th District.”

Ebbin  are also  running in the Democratic primary, which will take place on Aug. 23. There is currently no one running on the Republican ticket.
