Mount Vernon House Fire Displaces 2 People
There were no injuries, as no one was home when the fire broke out.

MOUNT VERNON, VA — Two people were displaced after a fire at a Mount Vernon home on Sunday, July 7, according to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.
Fairfax County and Fort Belvoir firefighters responded to the blaze in the 4700 block of Neptune Drive around 11:28 a.m. Sunday. Crews found smoke showing from the roof and quickly put out a fire in the attic above the garage.
No one was home when the fire broke out. A neighbor called 911 after seeing smoke from a second-floor window. There were no injuries.

Fire investigators say the fire was caused by an electrical event involving an outlet. Red Cross assistance was not needed. Damages are estimated to be $56,500.
