Virginia Lottery officials will announce today (Saturday) the name of the store where the winning ticket was purchased. The Virginia Lottery will pay the store a $50,000 bonus.

The winner can take the full jackpot in 26 annual payments or a one-time cash option of an estimated $68.1 million before taxes.

This is the seventh Mega Millions jackpot won in Virginia since the game began in 2002. It is the third-largest jackpot ever won by a ticket bought in Virginia.

The Virginia Lottery generates approximately $1.2 million per day for Virginia’s K-12 public schools. Operating entirely on revenue from the sale of lottery products, rather than tax dollars, the Virginia Lottery raised more than $430.2 million for Virginia’s public schools in fiscal year 2010. That represents about 8 percent of state funding for public education in Virginia.Ā
