PHOTOS: Construction on New Shopping Center on Richmond Highway
The Fordson Place Shopping Center will include Caribou Coffee and Verizon Wireless right across from Walgreens on Richmond Highway.
Construction on the new Fordson Place Shopping Center on Richmond Highway is underway. The center is located directly across the street from Walgreens, facing the Mount Vernon Plaza.
The shopping center will include 13,200 square feet of retail space, according to The Rappaport Companies' Web site.
Developer Claude Chandonnet of Marx Realty & Improvement Company, Inc., obtained site plan approval from Fairfax County in December 2012 and has confirmed that Verizon, Caribou Coffee, Paisano's Pizza and Vitamin Shoppe will be tenants at the shopping center when it's completed. Rappaport Retail Brokerage wil handle the leases for the property. Fordson Place is projected to open this summer.

Many Caribou Coffee shops have closed (or will eventually change) across the area, including shops in Lorton and Arlington, but no word on whether plans have changed for this location.
The shopping center, according to its Web site, still has two retail/restaurant spots available: one spot that is 1,974 square feet, and a smaller space that is 1,436 square feet.
