Ring in the Holidays with Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic Association

Mark your calendar for December 5th! A family of three orchestras performing under the same roof on the same day!

It’s unprecedented! A family of three orchestras performing under the same roof on the same day! Choose your passion and mark your calendars for December 5, 2015 when the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic Association takes up residence at Alexandria’s marque venue, the George Washington Masonic Memorial Hall.

At 3:00 PM Maestro Ulysses James and the WMPA’s marque ensemble, the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic, are joined by NOVA Chorus to kick off the festivities with a performance of Handel’s Messiah and Christopher Weiss’ concerto for bassoon, Six Past Midnight, the Forest Wakes, featuring renowned bassoonist Arnold Irchai.

At 7:30 PM the WMPA focuses the spotlight on its stars of tomorrow; the WMYO, led by Dr. Henry Sgrecci, and the WMCO, led by Ms. Ruth Erbe. Classics from the Youth and Concert Orchestras include Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake Suite, and Christmas Waltz, Debussy’s The Snow is Dancing, senior soloists performing concerti by W.A. Mozart and Ferdinand David, and Leroy Anderson’s delightful Clarinet Candy.
