Is Hoda Kotb in Running for Co-Host of 'Today' Show Slot?
Speculation grows that Kotb, former Fort Hunt resident, could be in the running to replace Ann Curry.
Former Fort Hunt resident , who graduated from high school in Northern Virginia, is rumored to be in the running to take over as co-host of the "Today" show on NBC.
Kotb, a 1982 graduate of (now ), is the rumored front-runner to replace Ann Curry, who is reportedly set to leave as co-host due to sliding ratings. Curry replaced Meredith Vieira about a year ago.
With 14 years at NBC, Kotb has a breadth of experience as both a personable host as well as a serious journalist, with plenty of hard news experience, including reporting from foreign countries. She currently co-hosts a more light-hearted take on the news each weekday with co-host Kathie Lee Gifford during the fourth hour segment of "Today."

Kotb is known for connecting with her audiences, especially after a public battle with breast cancer in 2007.
Another rumored replacement for Curry is reporter Savannah Guthrie, an Arizona native who also has ties to the D.C. metro area, as a former reporter for WRC-TV, NBC 4.

Arlington native Katie Couric held the co-host position for 15 years on "Today" before leaving to become the first solo woman to anchor a weekday evening network newscast, on the CBS Evening News. Couric is a 1975 graduate of Yorktown High School in Arlington.
