Jury Indicts Woodlawn Homicide Suspect Caught In Manhunt
A man wanted for nearly two months after a homicide has been indicted in Fairfax County court.

WOODLAWN, VA — A man who was at large for nearly two months after a Woodlawn homicide has been indicted in Fairfax County court.
Commonwealth's Attorney Steve Descano announced a grand jury indicted the suspect, Kyjuan Trott-McLean, 43 of Mount Vernon. The grand jury indicted Trott-McLean for murder in relation to the October 2022 fatal shooting of Brandon Wims, 31. He also faces charges of using a firearm in commission of a felony, possessing a firearm as a felon, and concealing a firearm as a felon.
"The death of Brandon Wims is a tragedy," said Descano in a statement. "I want to thank our Fairfax County Police for their dedication to this case and the policework that led to the arrest of the defendant."

Wims, a 31-year-old Maryland resident, was shot in a vehicle outside the Old Mills Gardens apartment complex in Woodlawn, according to prosecutors. Detectives had identified Trott-McLean as the suspect, claiming he saw Wims in the backseat of a vehicle, exited his vehicle and shot Wims multiple times.
Wims was dropped off at the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead.

Trott-McLean had been on the run for nearly two months after the homicide but was arrested Dec. 1 in Mount Vernon. The arrest came after an increased reward for the wanted man's arrest was offered by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Wims family's Victims’ Rights Foundation.
A court date for Trott-McLean will be set on July 20.
