Alexandria Average Rent Jumps Nearly 14 Percent In Year: Report
Alexandria rent isn't the most expensive in Northern Virginia, but prices drastically increased over the last year.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—If you think rent is expensive in Alexandria, you're not alone. Rent has jumped by almost 14 percent in the past year for a one bedroom, according to a new study by rental market website Zumper.
If you’re in the market for a two-bedroom rental in Alexandria, it will set you back an average of $2,040 a month, according to Zumper. A one-bedroom option offers little savings, averaging about $1,760 per month -- 13.5 percent higher than this time last year, according to the market analysis.
In neighboring Arlington County, the rent is more expensive, although it is trending down. A one-bedroom rental averages $2,140, and a two-bedroom rental $3,000 per month. DC is even more, with an average $2,260 for a one bedroom and $3,180 for a two bedroom.

The cheapest rent in the DC metro region can be found in some parts of Maryland. Frederick's one bedroom rate of $1,120 is below the state average, while Rockville offers $1,600 and Silver Spring $1,730.
