Assaults Of Women Lead To Charges In Springfield: Police

Police believe the same suspect assaulted two women in parking lots Thursday morning in Springfield.

SPRINGFIELD, VA — A man is facing charges after alleged assaults of two women Thursday morning in Springfield, according to Fairfax County Police.

Police responded to the first incident around 8:25 a.m. in a parking lot in the 6500 block of Frontier Drive. Officers believe the man grabbed the victim and assaulted her, while witnesses tried to intervene. The man fled on a bicycle.

As police were investigating the first incident, another incident was reported in the parking lot in the 6500 block of Springfield Mall. The second victim reported the same man approached her from behind and assaulted her in the parking lot. The victim pushed back, and the man fled on a bicycle.

Officers located and arrested the suspect nearby. Randall Sills, 44, of Maryland was charged with malicious wounding, abduction with the intent to defile and attempted abduction with intent to defile. He is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

Detectives do not believe Sills is the suspect in the Monday indecent exposure at the Springfield Town Center Target.
