Assistance League Is Participating In "A Community Thrives Campaign"

Donor Matching Opportunity Will Enhance Contributions To Fundraising Effort To Support Weekend Food for Kids

Assistance League of Northern Virginia is greatly encouraged by the early success of its A Mighty Cause: A Community Thrives Campaign. After a short time, the combined contributions by caring donors equal almost half of its fund-raising goal of $3,000. If the nonprofit meets that goal, the Gannett Foundation will evaluate the grant application to underwrite its Weekend Food for Kids program. Throughout Northern Virginia, many people live in extreme poverty despite the relative affluence of the area. Assistance League’s Weekend Food for Kids program distributes bags of food to sustain students on weekends when school meals aren’t available, and also provides grocery gift cards to help struggling families stretch their food budgets.

Now there is an opportunity to match contributions for this Campaign thanks to an anonymous benefactor who has offered to match all donations received between now and August 5, up to a maximum of $775. Please consider donating to this fund-raising campaign and double the impact of your contribution, thanks to this donor-matching offer. Assistance League is exceedingly grateful for this generous gift and hopes it will spark generosity from the many supporters of Assistance League of Northern Virginia who appreciate the lasting impact of the services it provides in the community. Please accept this challenge and help the nonprofit reach – and exceed – its goal.
