Barricade Suspect May Have Broken Into Rose Hill Home: Police

The homeowner thought it was his wife returning home. Before he knew it, someone was driving away in his car.

ROSE HILL, VA—The man who barricaded himself in the Virginia Lodge Motel and escaped is suspected of breaking into a Rose Hill home and stealing a car Wednesday, police say.

The break-in happened around 2:05 p.m. Wednesday in the 3100 block of Burgundy Road. The homeowner was watching TV when he heard the side open. Believing it was his wife, he greeted her but received no response.

Soon after, he heard the side door close and went to check on the disturbance. The intruder then drove his car away.

The resident believed the suspect could have been Alton Thodos, 32, the man wanted after the Saturday, Sept. 29 barricade at Virginia Lodge Motel in Belle Haven. He is wanted on grand larceny, credit card theft, credit card fraud and a probation violation warrants. Since the escape, police received reports of car break-ins and thefts with Thodos as the potential suspect.

Thodos is considered dangerous, according to police. He is described as 6 foot 1, 175 pounds, with a beard and wearing a red hat and a white shirt. Anyone who sees him or has information should call Fairfax County Police at 703-691-2131 or submit a tip online through Crime Solvers.
