Dog Rescued, No Residents Injured In Rose Hill Fire

An unconscious dog was rescued and revived during a house fire in Rose Hill, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

ROSE HILL, VA — A dog was rescued and no residents were injured in a Monday fire at a Rose Hill home, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

The fire happened in the 5500 block of Halwis Street in the Burgundy Village area of Rose Hill. Around 2:57 p.m., Fairfax County and Alexandria units responded to a single-family home and found smoke showing from the roof. Units found the fire in the kitchen and quickly extinguished it.

The fire was discovered by a neighbor who saw smoke and called 9-1-1. No residents were home at the time of the fire, but an unconscious dog was rescued. Fire and rescue personnel revived the dog and turned it over to the owner. There were no resident or firefighter injuries.

Investigators found the cause of the fire was an electrical event involving an outlet. The fire department said it was unclear if smoke alarms activated. Damages were estimated to be $93,750.

Four residents were displaced. Red Cross assistance was declined.
