Driver Sought After Fatal Hit-And-Run In Springfield
A pedestrian was killed while walking in the right lane of a road, according to police.

SPRINGFIELD, VA — Fairfax County detectives are seeking a driver in a hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian early Saturday. This was the county's third pedestrian fatality of the year.
The crash happened around 1 a.m. on Industrial Road near Backlick Road. Police believe the pedestrian was walking in the right lane of westbound Industrial Road when a westbound vehicle struck him. The driver did not stop and was last seen heading north on Backlick Road.
The pedestrian was taken to the hospital and died of his injuries. He was identified as David Velasquez, 29, of Arlington.

Police believe alcohol may have been a factor for the pedestrian but do not know if speed or alcohol were factors for the driver.
