Fairfax County Schools Make Weather Call For Jan. 14

Fairfax County Public Schools has made a weather decision for Monday as snow continues through the weekend.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA—Fairfax County Public Schools will be closed Monday, Jan. 14 due to snow and hazardous road conditions.

The closure also applies to offices. The Fairfax County Schools Board will hold its work session as scheduled Monday. School age child care (SACC) centers are closed.

  • extracurricular activities
  • interscholastic contests
  • team practices
  • field trips
  • middle school after-school programs
  • professional learning and training courses
  • adult and community education classes
  • recreation programs and community use by outside groups not affiliated with FCPS

Fairfax County and surrounding areas remain under a winter storm warning Sunday night until midnight. The National Weather Service expects accumulations up to 6 to 12 inches. A winter storm warning means snow-covered roads and slippery roads will make travel difficult.
