Fake MacBook Sales Operation Busted In Springfield

The pair of scammers were attempting to sell fake MacBooks just before Christmas outside Springfield Town Center.

SPRINGFIELD, VA—Police were able to shut down a scam attempting to dupe some late Christmas shoppers into buying fake MacBooks near Springfield Town Center.

Unfortunately for the suspects, they were the ones that approached an undercover cop Thursday, Dec. 21 in a car outside the mall. The officer immediately realized the laptops appeared to be fake and arranged to meet for a sale later.

Police went to work organizing a traffic stop on the car when it returned to the area to sell. Caliente Houston, 37, and Kristen Edmond, 30, of Missouri were arrested after police found a number of fake laptops and marijuana inside the car.
