No one was in the unit when the fire broke out in a light fixture, according to the fire department.

NEWINGTON, VA—Firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire in a Newington commercial area Wednesday. No one was injured, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

Around 5:34 p.m., Fairfax County and Fort Belvoir units were sent to a building fire in the 7500 block of Fullerton Road. Firefighters found smoke coming from a middle unit and requested a second alarm "due to the elements and nature" of the blaze.

No one was present when the fire broke out, but a person in a neighboring business called for help. The building had a fire alarm that activated.
