Food On The Floor: Kingstowne Restaurant Violations

KINGSTOWNE, VA — Fairfax County regularly conducts health inspections for local restaurants. The frequency of inspections on the type of food served and how it is prepared.

“In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any violations,” states the Virginia Department of Health’s website.

Here are some of the violations from recent inspections in late June. Among the violations were food stored on and near the floor at a number of Kingstowne area restaurants.

violations: food stored on/near floor, food not dated or discarded within 24 hours, residential pesticides stored in the facility

Kumo Asian Bistro: 7025-F Manchester Blvd., Alexandria, VA 22315, last inspection: June 27 (follow up)

violations: food stored on the floor; corrected: prep cooler not operating properly, manufacture containers reused

Lucky's Sports Theatre and Grill: 7027-B Manchester Boulevard, Alexandria, VA 22310, last inspection: June 28

violations: ice machine in need of cleaning, cutting boards not able to be properly sanitized due to scratching

New York Bagel Cafe and Deli: 6456 Old Beulah St, ALEXANDRIA, VA 22315, last inspection: June 19

violations: improper storage of utensils between use, food stored on floor in walk-in freezer

Pica Taco: 6480 Landsdowne Centre, Alexandria, VA 22315, last inspection: June 27

violations: manufacture containers reused to store salsa, dirty utensils

Wing It: 6500 Springfield Ml, SPRINGFIELD, VA 22150, last inspection: June 28

violations: food hot holding at improper temperature, foods not properly cooled within two and six hours, improper cooling method of chicken wings
