Franconia House Fire Displaces 4 Residents

Residents were alerted to the fire by smoke alarms, and no one was injured, according to the fire department.

FRANCONIA, VA — A house fire in Franconia displaced four residents but caused no injuries Saturday, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

Units responded to a townhouse in the 6500 block of Gildar Street around 10:48 a.m. Smoke was showing from the front door of the middle-unit townhouse when units arrived. The fire was quickly located on the first floor and extinguished.

Four people were home to the fire and were alerted by smoke alarms. One resident found the fire in the kitchen, and all residents evacuated without injuries.

Fire investigators confirmed the fire originated in the kitchen, but the cause remains under investigation. Damages are estimated to be $93,750.

The four displaced residents declined Red Cross assistance.
