Mindfulness Meditation 7-week class, 2-Hr. Mini-Retreat and FREE Session in Kingstowne --manage holiday stress before it hijacks your joy!

A little preventive medicine can go along way to building resistance to stress in the body, and the same is true for the mind! In fact, practicing meditation is a proven method to lower blood pressure, activate the relaxation response, and aid in letting go of stressful thoughts that don’t serve us. You can also use mindful techniques to aid in establishing healthy eating habits, manage chronic pain, and practice thoughtful communication. Learn to let go of anger and stress before they hijack you.
Using breath and body awareness, focusing techniques and gentle movement, learn simple techniques that bring lasting benefits, for body, mind and spirit and help you remain focused, aware and thoughtful for peaceful interactions at work and at home this holiday season and beyond.
A FREE Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation session will be held Nov. 4, from 6:30-7:30, at the Kingstowne Center for Active Adults, 6488 Landsdowne Center, next to the Kingstowne Fairfax County library.

Also: Mini-Medittion Retreats, Sat., Nov. 7, and Nov. 28, 10:30-12:30. Learn and practice mindfulness of body, breath and brain. Seated, lying down and walking meditation sessions combined with instruction. ($12 ea.)
7-Week Mindfulness Meditation for Relaxation and Joyful Living Series. Weds., Nov. 11-Dec.16, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Through breathing and awareness exercises, gentle movement and body scan, let go of tension and make room for awareness. Learn how to change your stress response to one of focus, and peace. Let go of stress and angry unfocused responses before they hijack your joy.

Meet your Instructor: Sandy Reid, has taught meditation and yoga locally for the past 5 yrs. Previously a children’s and family counselor and family caregiver, she has a master’s in counseling, yoga teacher certification and meditation teacher training with 20+ years experience.
