Help Giant Food and Assistance League Fight Food Insecurity
Assistance League Programs Will Benefit from Proceeds of Community Bag Sales

Assistance League of Northern Virginia is honored to be recognized again by Giant Food for its efforts to combat hunger in the area. Through its Weekend Food for Kids program, Assistance League distributes 1680 bags of food and grocery gift cards each month to elementary school students and families in Fairfax County, Prince William County, and Alexandria City. Giant Food has several programs to reduce food insecurity in the community where shoppers live and work. Several Giant Food stores selected the nonprofit last year to benefit from the Bloomin’ 4 Good and Community Bag Programs. Assistance League appreciates that the Giant Food at 8320 Old Keene Mill Road, Springfield, has selected our chapter to benefit from its Community Bag program. Throughout March, for every reusable Community Bag sold, Assistance League of Northern Virginia will receive $1. These reusable tote bags help reduce the use of plastic bags. When you buy a Community Bag at the Springfield Giant, you’ll help yourself, Assistance League, hungry children, and the planet!
