Human Body Part Found In Springfield Backyard

Detectives are asking residents about recent suspicious activity after finding a human body part outside a Springfield home.

SPRINGFIELD, VA—Detectives are investigating the discovery of a human body part outside a Springfield home Saturday.

Around noon Saturday, police responded to a resident's report of human remains in the 5900 block of Brunswick Drive. Police found a partially decomposed foot.

The specific details of the human remains are not known at this time. The Medical Examiner's Office has verified that the foot is human and will look into additional details.

Detectives are canvassing the area to collect reports of recent suspicious activity, which includes searching additional yards with permission. One yard contained bones, but they are believed to belong to an animal and be unrelated.
