Infant Dies After Being Left In Car In Springfield
Police do not expect to place charges after the infant was left in a car outside a Springfield home.

SPRINGFIELD, VA — An infant died after being found unresponsive in a vehicle in Springfield Friday, according to Fairfax County Police.
Officers responded to the 6400 block of Meriwether Lane Friday evening after the 11-month-old girl had been left in the car. The infant was taken to the hospital, where she died.
According to detectives' investigation, the child's father may have "inadvertently" left the infant in an SUV for an extended period of time. The father placed the infant in a vehicle outside his home and used another vehicle to run errands. He returned home and used the SUV to pick up another child. That's when he realized the infant was still in the vehicle.
