Kingstowne House Fire Causes $90K In Damage, No Injuries

Fairfax County fire units were dispatched at about 5:50 a.m. on Friday for a reported house fire in the 7800 block of Kincardine Court.

KIINGSTOWNE, VA — An early morning house fire on Friday caused about $90,000 of damage to a home in the Kingstowne area, according to the Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department.

Units were dispatched at about 5:50 a.m. on Friday for a reported house fire in the 7800 block of Kincardine Court.

When fire units arrived on the scene of the two-story, split-foyer home, fire was found in the basement. Crews quickly extinguished the fire.

Both occupants of the home were evaluated by EMS but declined to be taken to the hospital. No firefighters were injured in the incident.

The two occupants were home at the time of the fire. A working smoke alarm awakened them, and they got out of the house before the fire units arrived. A neighbor noticed smoke coming from the house and called 911.

Fairfax County fire investigators determined the fire was accidental in nature and started in the utility room on the first floor. The fire was caused by the improper disposal of rags used for staining wood, according to investigators.

The two occupants were displaced because of the fire. Red Cross services were offered, but the occupants declined the help, according to the fire department.
