Large Car Meetup Near Capital Beltway Dispersed By Police

Fairfax County Police say 50 to 75 cars met up in an area just beyond Alexandria city limits.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — A car meetup of 50 to 75 vehicles was broken up by Fairfax County Police near the Capital Beltway just outside Alexandria Sunday.

The car meetup happened around 6:15 p.m. in the 6000 block of Farrington Avenue, which is outside Alexandria city limits. Officers responded to calls about the large gathering of cars in the parking lot and worked to disperse the crowd. According to police, several drivers were driving recklessly as officers were on scene. As additional officers responded, the group of cars drove off.

Police say there were no crashes or injuries. No arrests were made. Video evidence is being collected and reviewed as police attempt to identify the drivers.
