There are a lot of places to go this fall in Fairfax County, including parks, wineries, active entertainment centers and more.
FAIRFAX, VA — Between the busy Halloween and Christmas seasons, your family might be at a loss on what to do on the weekends. Luckily, Fairfax County is filled with parks, breweries, arts centers and more that can entertain year round.

Fairfax County Parks and Historic Attractions

The county is home to the National Park Service's Great Falls Park, as well as many others under the Fairfax County Park Authority and historic sites. A few highlights include:
- Great Falls Park: This park on the Potomac River has overlooks to view the falls, as well as hiking trails, a visitor center, picnic areas and more.
- Burke Lake Park: There is no charge for county residents at this park, which features a lake trail, hiking, boating, camping, miniature train, carousel, and much more.
- Huntley Meadows Park: The boardwalk trails on the wetlands are a prime spot for wildlife watching. There's also a historic house, meadows and picnic shelter.
- Frying Pan Farm Park: This park preserves and interprets farm life of the 1920s to 1950s.
- George Washington's Mount Vernon: A visit to Mount Vernon lets you tour the first president's mansion and property, meet reenactors, see demonstrations and attend special events.
- Gunston Hall: The home of Founding Father George Mason is open for tours, and guests can also check out the exhibitions at the visitor center or hike on the grounds.

- St. James Sports and Entertainment Complex: While the center is membership based, non-members can pay to access the active entertainment center and indoor waterpark.
- Launch Trampoline Park, Flight Fit N Fun Springfield, Sky Zone Trampoline Park: Join an open jump or take a fitness class at these indoor trampoline parks.
- Ultrazone Bailey's Crossroads, ShadowLand Laser Adventures: These multi-level laser tag arena will make you feel like you've escaped reality.
- Kid Junction: This indoor play area has two levels of tubes, slides, obstacles and bridges, as well as a cafe and arcade.
- Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center: Avoid the crowds at the National Air and Space Museum at this companion facility. Admission is free, but you have to pay to park before 4 p.m.
