Man Charged In Murder Of Mount Vernon Teen

A Georgia man has been charged with first degree murder in the suspected gang-related death of a Mount Vernon teen.

MOUNT VERNON, VA—A Georgia man has been charged with first degree murder after a body of a missing Mount Vernon teen was found last month. Police believe the disappearance and death of Miguel Angel Ruiz Carrillo, 18, could be gang related.

Prince William and Fairfax County Police have been handling the investigation since the teen's remains were found Tuesday, Aug. 22 in Nokesville. Fairfax County Police had reported him missing earlier in August.

Police believe Hector Armando Gamez-Amaya, 28, of McDonough, Ga. was directly involved in the murder. He was arrested Sunday, Sept. 3 in Gwinnett County, Ga. after the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force located him. No mugshot is available.

Three others have been arrested in connection with the teen's disappearance. Earlier in August, Fairfax County Police arrested Jose Vincent-Sosa, 20, and Edwin Dinarte Moreno, 18, both of Alexandria, along with a female juvenile. All three are each charged with abduction and gang participation.

The victim's remains have been taken to the Medical Examiner's Office in Manassas for an autopsy and further analysis to determine the cause of death.

The teen was reported as missing and endangered Aug. 8. He was last seen around the 4200 block of Buckman Road in Mount Vernon Aug. 3. Family reported him as missing when he didn't return home, but investigations found he was missing under suspicious circumstances.

Police continue to investigate and will provide additional updates when available.
