Man Points Gun At Firefighters At Kingstowne Apartment: Police

Police say the man got a gun from a safe after firefighters put out an apartment fire.

KINGSTOWNE, VA—A man was charged for allegedly pointing a gun at firefighters after an apartment fire in the Kingstowne area Friday, April 26.

The fire happened in the 6100 block of Essex House Square. Around 9:18 p.m., firefighters were cleaning up after the fire was extinguished. The resident was escorted into the building to get items. That's when the resident got a gun from a safe and pointed it at firefighters, according to Fairfax County Police.

Police have charged the resident, Romulo Gutierrez, 61, of Alexandria, with drunk in public, three counts of assault on a firefighter, and four counts of brandishing of a firearm.
