Man Sentenced For Gang-Related Shootout On Telegraph Road

A Woodbridge man faces prison time for the summer 2019 shootout at a recording studio.

ROSE HILL, VA — A man was sentenced Wednesday for his role in a July 2019 gang-related shootout at a recording studio on Telegraph Road.

The shootout happened on June 2, 2019 at Midieast Studios, located in the 6400 block of Telegraph Road, where a Toyota was parked with Tolliver and his associates inside. When a Mitsubishi arrived, surveillance video showed two masked individuals exit and begin firing at the Toyota. According to prosecutors, Reginald Tolliver III, 23, of Woodbridge unlawfully possessed and fired a semi-automatic pistol during the shootout. Tolliver was seen firing his pistol at the masked individuals.

Both vehicles fled from the scene about a minute after the gunfire started. Tolliver's associate fled on foot around the time the vehicles left. Fairfax County police officers arrived to find Tolliver's associate wounded by gunfire. Other officers responded to James Drive in the Groveton area and found Tolliver with a gunshot wound.

Tolliver was sentenced in Alexandria federal court to over four years in prison.

"In this case, Tolliver illegally possessed a firearm, which he then utilized to engage in a gang-related shootout in broad daylight," said G. Zachary Terwilliger, U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, in a statement. "Far too often, especially in recent months, we see the devastating result to communities and families when criminals engage in armed shootouts to settle their disputes. All communities should have the freedom to be outside without fear of being hit by gang cross-fire."

The incident was one of several last that Fairfax County Police believed were gang-related. On the same day in July 2019, two teens were shot at a playground in the 3000 block of Fordson Court in Gum Springs.
