New Crash Map Pinpoints Teen Driver Accidents in Kingstowne

A new crash map released by Fairfax County shows that accidents are prevalent on a number of Kingstowne area roads.

KINGSTOWNE, VA -- In Fairfax County, 1,840 young drivers were involved in crashes last year, and a number have been near Kingstowne and Rose Hill.

A new map from the county appears to show dozens of crashes in the area. The intersection of South Kings Highway and Telegraph Road and along Franconia Road near I-95 appear to have the most teen driver crashes.

Fortunately, in 97 percent of cases, teen drivers were wearing seat belts, and in only 2 percent of cases was alcohol involved. Also, the total number of 17- and 18-year-old drivers involved in crashes has declined by almost 100 occurrences compared to 2015, according to the county.

Near Kingstowne, Franconia Road between Commerce Street and Frontier Drive in Springfield made the county's "10 Most Dangerous Roadways for Youth Drivers" list. Other dangerous roads for teen drivers are:
