Pedestrian Dies In Backlick Road Crash: Police
Fairfax County Police say a pedestrian died days after a car struck her in Springfield.
SPRINGFIELD, VA — A pedestrian died two days after a crash on Backlick Road in Springfield on Friday, Feb. 28, according to Fairfax County Police. This was Fairfax County's eighth pedestrian death of 2020.
The crash happened as the pedestrian was crossing Backlick Road near Villa Park Road around 3:43 p.m. An Audi S5 heading south on Backlick Road struck the pedestrian, who was not in a crosswalk.
The pedestrian was taken to the hospital, where she later died of her injuries. She was identified as Tahmina Akter, 39, of Springfield.

The driver stayed on the scene to cooperate with police. Police do not believe speed or alcohol were involved in the crash. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Crash Reconstruction Unit at 703-280-0543 or submit a tip through Crime Solvers.
