1 Dead, Rose Hill House A Total Loss After Heavy Fire

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — One person is dead and five were injured in a fire at a Rose Hill home Monday night. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue says the home is a total loss, and nine people were displaced.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue responded to a single-family home in the 3400 block of Elmwood Drive, which is just south of the Beltway. Units found heavy fire and power lines down near the front right side of the home. Most of the residents evacuated, but one wasn't accounted for. Firefighters found the person dead inside the home.

Four residents and a firefighter went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. An autopsy will determine the deceased victim’s identity and cause of death.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The home had working smoke alarms. Damages were estimated to be $315,312.
