Springfield House Fire Displaces 7 Residents
All residents safely evacuated before firefighters arrived.

SPRINGFIELD, VA — A blaze at a Springfield home has displaced seven people early Friday, Aug, 16, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue. There were no injuries.
Units responded to the single-family home in the 6300 block of Pioneer Drive around 12:01 a.m. Firefighters found smoke showing from the roof and quickly located a fire in the attic and put it out. Seven people were home at the time. One resident was alerted by the smoke alarm, called for help and ensured everyone safely evacuated.
Fire investigators determined a mechanical malfunction with the attic fan caused the fire. Damages were estimated to be $60,000, according to the fire department.
