Stalking And Kidnapping Results In Sentence For Springfield Man

The Springfield man followed the woman to a nightclub and threatened her and her family, prosecutors say.

SPRINGFIELD, VA—A Springfield man was sentenced Thursday for charges relating to stalking and kidnapping his ex-girlfriend.

Nam Quoc Hoang, 41, was sentenced to 13 years in prison for interstate stalking, interstate domestic violence, and being a felon in possession of ammunition.

According to prosecutors, he began stalking her in December 2013 by sending a threats to post sexually explicit photos of her unless she paid him. He posted the photos when she did not pay him, continuing to put them up even as Facebook took them down.

Court records show the man and his co-conspirator, Khoa Dang Vu Hoang, traveled from Virginia to Maryland to stalk his ex-girlfriend throughout January 2014. The men broke into her home two times and took valuable items, which she still hasn't gotten back.

On Jan. 26, 2014, the men drove to a nightclub in Washington, DC after noticing a Facebook post from her. They waited for the woman to return to her vehicle and followed her by car. When she stopped at a traffic light, Nam approached her car, displayed a weapon, and demanded entry. Afraid for her life, she let him in. He then hit the ex-girlfriend in the face and threatened her and her family.

The co-conspirator, Khoa, was convicted in March for interstate stalking and conspiracy was sentenced to five years in prison on July 21.
