Watch: Driver Strikes Cop During Springfield Traffic Stop
After the driver hit the officer, a long pursuit ensued, according to Fairfax County Police.

SPRINGFIELD, VAāPolice cruiser video documented an officer nearly being run over by a driver in Springfield Tuesday night.
Around 9:39 p.m., an officer had pulled over two cars for reckless driving at Backlick Road and Springfield Boulevard. As a second officer responding on scene got out of her cruiser, the two cars drove off. Video shows one of the cars striking the officer while attempting to flee.
An officer in the police cruiser recording the incident began chasing the car that hit the other officer. A pursuit lasting over eight miles on mostly interstate roads ensued. The precision immobilization technique (PIT) was used to stop the car and take the driver into custody.

The officer struck by the vehicle was not injured.

The accused driver, Emanuel Chang-De La Cruz, 19, of Alexandria faces charges of speed to elude, no operatorās license, reckless driving and assault on a law enforcement officer.
