Woman Busted For Making Fraudulent Return In Springfield

The woman wasn't able to get away after receiving money from a fraudulent Best Buy return.

SPRINGFIELD, VA—A young woman almost got away with making a fraudulent return at the Springfield Best Buy Saturday, according to Fairfax County Police.

The suspect had attempted to get money by returning an item that she hadn't bought. Around 5 p.m., management reported the potential fraudulent return to police.

Police tracked down the suspect and began questioning her. The suspect attempted to flee, but police caught up and arrested her.

Shania Haigler, 18, of Maryland was charged with obtaining money by false pretenses. She has been taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

Fairfax County Police has stepped up efforts to catch suspects shoplifting or committing other retail-related crimes. This holiday season, they have caught shoplifters in two separate incidents attempting to steal and resell products from Springfield Town Center.
