More Holiday Shoplifters Caught In Springfield
Another pair of shoplifters were busted trying to steal items to resell from Springfield Town Center.
SPRINGFIELD, VA—Two shoplifters couldn't escape the watchful eyes of officers during another bust at Springfield Town Center Tuesday.
Around 8 p.m. officers patrolling the mall spotted the suspects concealing merchandise. Officers believe the shoplifters had intended to resell the stolen products.
Two DC women were arrested and charged with the crimes, along with drug offenses. Jacqueline Geter, 53, was charged with grand larceny, possession of stolen property with intent to sell and drug possession. Samantha Payne, 50, charged with grand larceny, possession of stolen property with intent to sell, possession of burglary tools, drug possession, and resisting arrest.

The latest arrests come after Fairfax County Police's Christmas Anti-Theft Team nabbed two shoplifting suspects over Thanksgiving weekend at the mall. Officers followed them to the parking lot, where one of the suspects tried to escape and the other assaulted an officer.
Fairfax County Police step up their efforts to catch shoplifters during the holiday season. So far, they've also busted a crime ring believed to have fraudulently taken over $29,000 in items from at least 13 different Tysons Corner Center stores. Last holiday season, recovered $39,000 in merchandise and $68,925 in seized money and vehicles in the Franconia District, where Springfield Town Center is located.
