Sharon Lee Sampsell (pagevalleynews.com) — Luray friends and family are remembering 72-year-old Sharon Lee Sampsell, a Luray native and Luray High School graduate who later lived in Berryville and recently passed at Winchester Medical Center. She was deeply involved in Page County 4-H, local employment, and especially proud of creating the county’s ‘Quest for the Stars’ talent search, leaving a legacy of community service and devotion to family.
   

2. Pettit, Jackson bring home state track titles (pagevalleynews.com) — Luray track standout Azmani Jackson captured a state title in the 800 meters and added a runner-up finish in the 400, leading several strong Bulldog performances at the VHSL state meet in Harrisonburg. Teammates Daniel Frey and Brylee Painter also placed in multiple events, while Page County’s Braxton Pettit and Nate Holloway brought home top state honors for the Panthers.
   

3. Virginia Looks to Draw More Indian Tourists as Arrivals Grow (indusbusinessjournal.com) — Virginia tourism officials say many Indian visitors already know Luray Caverns from day trips out of Washington, D.C., and now want to encourage longer stays that spread spending across the state. They’re promoting other Virginia destinations and experiences to Indian tour operators, hoping to turn quick cavern visits into overnight trips that could benefit communities like Luray and beyond.
   

4. David George Newman Jr. (pagevalleynews.com) — Luray residents are mourning 78-year-old David George Newman Jr., a town resident, Vietnam veteran, and longtime Shenandoah National Park manager who passed away June 4. Remembered for more than 20 years of military service and 23 years with the park, he is survived by his wife Loretta and sister Brenda, with services to be held at a later date.
