Riley Park Tuesday night as National Night Out drew an estimated 1,500 people and raised about $10,000, its strongest showing since returning to the park. Residents praised the free, family-friendly event for helping kids meet local officers, explore community services, and enjoy small-town connections while police used the evening to build relationships and hear what’s on people’s minds. 
• Behind the bargains: Treasure hunt begins months before Route 11 Yard Crawl (nvdaily.com) — Shoppers will soon be streaming through Woodstock and neighboring towns for the Route 11 Yard Crawl, a 43-mile yard sale stretching from New Market to Stephens City this Saturday. One longtime Toms Brook seller spends all year gathering vintage finds, from costume jewelry to rare collectibles, to delight the thousands of bargain hunters who return every August.
• Route 11 Yard Crawl (wmra.org) — Woodstock will again sit along the heart of the Route 11 Yard Crawl, a 43-mile stretch of yard and business sales running from New Market to Stephens City. The event, backed by Woodstock and other Valley towns plus county tourism groups, runs 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, giving locals a full day to browse deals close to home.
