• Concrete lining of tunnel begins on Blackwater CSO project (newsadvance.com) — Work on Lynchburg's massive Blackwater CSO Tunnel has moved into a new phase, with contractors beginning to install its permanent concrete lining. Lynchburg Water Resources and construction crews recently led tours 80 feet underground, following City Council's approval of nearly $30 million in revenue bonds to keep this critical sewer and overflow-control project moving forward.
   

• Historic Calloway Store takes step toward reopening on Lynchburg's Pierce Street (wset.com) — Lynchburg's historic Calloway Store on Pierce Street has taken a major step toward reopening after roughly 40 years closed, debuting with a soft opening during the Party on Pierce festival. Restoration leaders plan to turn the former Black-owned grocery and home into a museum and educational space, partnering with nearby schools and aiming for a full opening this fall.
   

• Virginia residents can weigh in as Appalachian Power plans 30-mile line rebuild to curb outages (thecooldown.com) — A major Appalachian Power project could reshape electric reliability between Lynchburg and Smith Mountain Lake, and residents near Lynchburg are being asked to weigh in now. The company plans a 30-mile rebuild of aging transmission lines from Opossum Creek in Lynchburg, aiming to cut outages and support new businesses, with construction eyed for 2028–2029 and public comments open through early October.
