City Warns Residents of Utility Scam

Latest phone scam demands a payment and threatens water or electric services will be turned off. It's a scam!

The City of Manassas is warning residents of the latest round of phone scams: this time demanding utility payments.

The caller will claim there’s an unpaid amount on the utility bill and threaten to turn off the electric or the water unless payment is made over the phone.

The scammer gives an 800 or 888 number for you to call back.

The City of Manassas Utilities do not use 800 or 888 numbers and will not call demanding payment, according to the city.

Check with the city if you think your payment is late by calling 703-257-8245.
