Reported Deaths From Coronavirus In VA Increasing At Faster Rate

The number of reported positive cases of the new coronavirus in Virginia increased by 312 in one day, with positive cases now at 3,645 as of Wednesday morning, according to the Virginia Department of Health. The positive cases of the coronavirus, which causes the COVID-19 respiratory disease, includes 615 hospitalizations, up from 563 hospitalizations on Tuesday.

Northam Seeks Action On VA Elections, Coronavirus Racial Data

As cases of the coronavirus, or COVID-19, continue to rise, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam announced actions Wednesday related to upcoming elections and addressed efforts to improve racial data reporting on confirmed cases.

5 More Coronavirus Deaths In DC, As Positive Cases Climb To 1,440

Five more District residents have died due to the new coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, according to data released Wednesday morning by the D.C. Department of Health. This brings the total number of residents killed by the virus to 27. The five COVID-19 related deaths are: a 52-year-old male, a 61-year-old female, a 68-year-old female, a 79-year-old female, and a 97-year-old female.

Loudoun Elementary School Staffer Tests Positive For Coronavirus

A staff member at Hutchison Farm Elementary School in South Riding has tested positive for the new coronavirus, or COVID-19. The staff member is receiving medical care, Loudoun County Public Schools Superintendent Eric Williams said Tuesday afternoon.

Giant Food To Limit Customers Inside Virginia, DC Stores

Landover, Maryland-based Giant Food is introducing two new policies to promote social distancing in its stores in response to the coronavirus crisis. The grocery chain, which operates locations in Virginia, DC, Maryland and Delaware, is limiting store capacity starting on Thursday, April 9 and making aisles one way.

Homeless Maintain Dignity With Work During Coronavirus Crisis

Residents experiencing homelessness know they're especially vulnerable during the new coronavirus outbreak. In the Fairfax area, a daytime drop-in shelter and partnering City of Fairfax are offering helping hands to support their basic needs and let them earn money. The Lamb Center's City Jobs program with the City of Fairfax is continuing to provide work while accounting for social distancing.
