🌱 App To Report Bullying In School + Future Of The Hunton Y

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Norfolk.

Hey, neighbors! Sean Peek here with the latest copy of the Norfolk Daily.

First, today's weather:

Mostly cloudy. High: 54 Low: 42.

Here are the top three stories in Norfolk today:

  1. Norfolk Public Schools are partnering with an app that lets students, parents, and teachers anonymously report bullying. The app, Vector Alert Tip Reporting System, is available now for download and allows users to text, call, email, or report concerns online. It is available now by searching for "SafeSchools Alert" in the Apple app store, and "Vector Alert" on Google Play. (13newsnow.com WVEC)
  2. The future of the 145-year-old YMCA, located in one of Norfolk's poorest communities, is still uncertain. The Hunton Y is a staple in the Tidewater Gardens community and provides children with hot meals, daycare, and after-school programs. However, according to Attorney Joseph Waldo who represents the Y, the city is offering to buy the land Hunton sits on for $2 million — up from $1 million two years ago — which is far less than the tax value of $4 million. 3. A Norfolk sailor was shot while on leave in Chicago. 26-year-old Culinary Specialist Seaman Apprentice Koreyuntaye D. Robinson was shot in an attempted carjacking on Jan. 13, while his 3-year-old daughter was in the car with him. The man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition and has since been released. (WAVY.com)
