- The City of Norfolk is hosting a two-day hiring event to help job seekers who are interested in working for the city. The event will be held Dec. 27-28, and applicants will be able to meet with members of the Compensation & Staffing Team to learn more about open positions and receive help with the online application process. The City of Norfolk was chosen as a 2021 Best Place to Work in Local Government by Emerging Local Government Leaders. (wtkr.com)
- A Norfolk beer bottle estimated to be more than a century old was discovered by construction crews working at the site of a new luxury apartment building. The bottle was still intact and was determined to have come from a Norfolk branch of the Washington-based Christian Heurich Brewing company. While the bottle has little monetary value, experts say the Heurich relic can shed light on the history of the city. (Virginian-Pilot)
- A Norfolk man accused of fatally stabbing two people in late 2020 has a mental examination scheduled for Monday, December 27 in Norfolk Circuit Court. The accused, L.C. Grant III, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Donta Jackson and Michael Mizzell. He also faces one count of second-degree murder, one count of carjacking, two counts of using a firearm during commission of a felony, and one count of credit card theft.(wtkr.com)
