Here are the top three stories in Norfolk today:

  1. The recent violence in Norfolk highlights the need to hire more police officers, according to Norfolk Police Chief Larry Boone. There are roughly 16 recruits in the police academy currently but there are 219 vacancies in the Norfolk Police Department. The Chief attributes the vacancies to low pay and liability concerns due to recent police reform protests. (News 3 WTKR Norfolk)
  2. The 2022 Norfolk Harborfest lineup has finally been announced. The festival will be from Jun. 10 to Jun. 12 at Town Point Park. Click the link to see the full lineup featuring Michael Clark Band and DJ Canrock. (WAVY.com)
  3. The Norfolk Police Chief provides an update on the Saturday shooting at Chicho's Pizza Backstage. According to the chief, the shooting started over an argument about a spilled drink. Though investigators have not yet identified a suspect, they remain optimistic due to the location of the shooting and multiple witnesses. (WTOP)
