1. Hospitals in the greater Norfolk area are confident about their staff vaccination numbers as the deadline approaches for hospital workers to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Local health leaders have set a deadline of Oct. 18, and many report that employees "are working well with this mandate." (13newsnow.com WVEC)
2. A Norfolk mother has died of injuries sustained in a shooting incident that also killed her 10-year-old daughter. Lorin Mack, 30, was taken to the hospital after Nathan White II shot Mack, her daughter, and then himself early Sunday morning. She passed away on Tuesday. The Norfolk Police Department is currently investigating the triple-fatality murder-suicide shooting. (wtkr.com)
3. On Oct. 3, the Norfolk Botanical Garden will host the 12th annual Works Progress Administration (WPA) Garden Heritage Day Celebration to honor the 220 African Americans who created the garden more than 80 years ago. (WAVY.com)
