🌱 Loaded Gun Confiscated At ORF + VEC Unemployment Shutdown

Here are the top stories today in Norfolk:

1. A Virginia Beach man was caught with a loaded gun at Norfolk International Airport (ORF) on Thursday. The TSA said its officers found a 9mm handgun loaded with six bullets at an airport security checkpoint. The Norfolk Airport Authority Police then confiscated the weapon and cited the man, who faces a federal financial civil penalty as well as possible criminal prosecution from the Norfolk Commonwealth's Attorney. 2. The Virginia Employment Commission has again disabled online unemployment claims, this time to "limit fraud," according to a spokesperson. Since launching a new online unemployment system in early November, the VEC has shut down its online claims application multiple times. Now, unemployed Virginians who need to file a claim are once again being instructed to call in. (13newsnow.com WVEC)
3. The Virginia Zoo is now offering a Sunday savings ticket for its popular ZooLumination exhibit for only $25 per vehicle. (wtkr.com)
4. A Norfolk family is battling the system for their middle schooler, who has been persistently bullied at Southside STEM Academy with physical and emotional threats. (WNCT)
